Anzac Poems

We created these poems after reading the Anzac children's stories The donkey Man and The Bantum and the Soldier to get an idea about what happened.

I am an Anzac soldier
I smell the smoke, fire and dirt
I hear the boom of gun shots
I see the dead people and bombs
I feel sick, sore scared and freezing
Remember me.
By Manuel

I am an Anzac soldier
I smell the smoke from the fire
I hear the grades going off
I see the people dying
I feel so sick
Remember me.
By Iraia

I am an Anzac soldier
I smell the dirt and mud
I hear the moans
I see the blood
I feel sad and sick
Remember me.

100 Years of ANZAC

Term 2 has kicked off with a look at what ANZAC means to us and its significance to us.
Team Pukeko got into the spirit by creating commemorative poppies wreaths and writing poetry. We got our information from reading books such as Dawn Parade, Harry and the Anzac Poppy, The Bantum and the Soldier and Donkey Man. By the time we got around to having a Team quiz it was a race to see who could get the information out the fastest.
